About Me
Sophia Murphy is a freelance writer living in Toronto, Canada. Born in St. Thomas, Barbados, Sophia, along with her mother and brother, emigrated to Ottawa, Canada, when she was just four years old. Her love of reading began in early middle school, when she devoured as many Agatha Christie novels as possible, and grew into a lifelong obsession with books. Her passion for the written word blossomed into a love of writing and led her to an English Literature degree at university.
Prior to becoming a freelance writer, Sophia had a professional career in the medical communications industry, which she left to start a family with her husband. Sophia's two boys keep her busy and also up on all the latest teen slang, which she happily repeats to them whenever she gets a chance (much to their dismay). When she’s not with her family, Sophia loves spending her time with friends, reading, exercising, and trying to enjoy every minute of this ride called life.
Sports Superstars from Black History is Sophia’s first published book. She has written articles for TripAdvisor, The Resolve, Calculated Traveller, and more. As a freelance writer, Sophia helps small businesses with content and copywriting for their blogs and websites. Sophia is currently working on writing her first fictional novel.
